I finished up a pair of 'Monster socks' that I've been knitting for the 'Socks from the toe-up' knit-a-along. The yarn is a mixture of Araucania Ranco solid, Dream in Color smooshy and Lana Grossa Meilenweit 100 Colortweed. They are left over yarns from previous sock projects that I have finished. The two socks looks wildy different in terms of the striping effect because the way the yarns are splice together is completely random. I think it really fits with the theme of 'Monster socks'. Click on the picture for a close up of the lace pattern I used for the socks. I picked a pattern from a stitch dictionary for interest. Also, I finished a hat for my sister using yarn that I purchased at Knit Happens in Alexandria VA when I visited her over Thanksgiving. She wanted a Beret type hat so this is what I knit for her. It's a pattern called "high street hat".
The yarn used is Araucania Azapa.
In other news, I'm in tug of war of wills with Kramer. He has a tendency to wake me up at 5:30 in the morning for his breakfast. To get him out of this habit, I've been ignoring him no matter what until at least around 6:30~7:00 am to feed him (I split up his feedings to twice a day since he eats all his food within an hour and then gets hungry and well you know, a lot of meowing ensues for the rest of the day). Well he is very displeased with my behavior and last night he decided to knock off the box of tissue paper from my bed side and pull and tear out several tissue papers onto the floor. Also, he knocked off a book from my bed side and the pages have kitty teeth marks on them. I ignored all this commotion because I knew that he is doing all this for attention, negative or positive. It's going to be a little rough until he learns that these tactics are futile and that he is going to have to wait until decent time in the morning to be fed. I will win this war of wills dammit, oh yes I will.
