October in Salem

October is a crazy month in Salem.  The whole month is spend celebrating Halloween (didn't know Halloween was something to celebrate about until I moved here).  Every day, there is some kind of even going on in town and during the weekends, there are street vendors, Ferris Wheel and rides for kids and the town is full of tourists.  I'm not particularly fond of Halloween, but I love the energy and vibrancy that surrounds the town around this time of year.  Today was a beautiful fall day, the air is crisp, but not too cold and sunny!  I walked into town, it takes about 15min from home.  I grabbed lunch and just walked around navigating around mobs of people milling around Salem.  People watching is really fun because visitors (and locals too I'm sure) often dress up in costumes.

I couldn't resist walking in to Seed Stitch Fine Yarn.  It's the yarn store in Salem that I often (maybe too often).  I ended buying a yarn that is hand dyed by a local dyer-toil and trouble Tweed Sock.  I thought the hand dyed yarn/tweed combo was interesting.  I think I'll knit a fairly simple shawl, no fancy lace work to better showcase the yarn.

Kramer was very interested in the yarn, which is not that usual.  My cats are so used to having yarn around the house that they are like 'meh...'  but I guess he liked this one.

I'm still working on the Agathe pullover, it's coming along nicely.  The other projects that I've been working on is the Rock Island shawl designed by brooklyntweed aka Jared Flood.  I love brooklyntweed designs and I've been wanting to knit this for a while.  I'm using Jade Sapphire Lacey lamb.  It's still at the beginning stages:

It's going to be so pretty!

Yay, I'm glad you went home with some of my tweed sock! I can't wait to see what you make!

The Rock Island is one of my favorite shawls. I received one as part of a shawl swap and it is GORGEOUS!
